1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small values that a website can ask your browser to store and send with later requests. Local storage is a related browser facility that keeps values on your device without automatically attaching them to every request. This policy covers both so that the word “cookie” in our preference interface does not conceal a different storage mechanism.
The supplied website uses localStorage, not an HTTP cookie, for its consent record. It does not create an advertising identifier or track your reading across websites. The inventory below describes storage set by the site code, not an independent audit of the external image provider. An independently configured host or protection layer could introduce additional behaviour, which the real operator must assess and disclose before launch.
2. Current storage inventory
| Category | Name / technology | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | curiosityzestory-consent-v1First-party localStorage | Remembers your choice, category settings, policy version and selection time. | Recognised for 180 days; removed or replaced on a later visit after expiry. |
| Analytics | None deployed | No audience-measurement service or analytics cookie is installed. | Not applicable |
| Functional | None deployed | No optional personalisation, third-party map or embedded media storage is installed by the site code. | Not applicable |
Essential preference storage is used whether you accept or reject optional categories, so that the site can respect your decision on subsequent pages. No form message, email address or hotel booking information is written to this record. There are no marketing cookies in this implementation.
Homepage photographs are ordinary image resources delivered by images.unsplash.com. Your browser may cache them as part of normal page loading. These requests are separate from the preference record; see section 5 for the external provider disclosure.
3. What the controls do
“Accept All” records that the currently described optional categories are enabled. “Reject Non-Essential” records that both are disabled. “Preferences” lets you make those selections individually while keeping the essential consent record active. Because no optional services are installed, accepting does not cause any analytics request or third-party embed to load. The homepage’s ordinary image requests are not controlled by these category settings and may occur before you make a choice.
You can reopen the controls from every footer. A change applies to this browser on this website, not to another device or a third-party booking page. Closing the preference window without saving leaves the previous choice unchanged. If local storage is unavailable, the choice can be respected for the current page but may not survive navigation. The interface will tell you when it cannot save.
4. Browser opt-out and deletion
You may delete the record by clearing this site’s cookies and site data in your browser. In Chrome and Edge, open Settings, search for site data, locate curiosityzestory.christmas and remove its stored data. In Firefox, use Settings, Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data and Manage Data. In Safari on macOS, use Settings, Privacy and Manage Website Data. On iPhone or iPad, Safari’s website data controls are available through the device’s Settings application.
Labels vary by browser version, so use the settings search if the exact wording differs. Blocking all site storage may cause the banner to reappear. Private browsing can also remove choices when the session ends. None of these actions prevents you from reading the guides or following ordinary booking links.
5. External websites, photographs and future changes
Clicking a link to Accor, OpenStreetMap or another external service takes you to that service’s own privacy and cookie controls. Our choices do not manage its storage. We do not embed a live map.
Unlike those links, the homepage photographs can connect your browser to Unsplash’s image delivery service merely by loading the page. The provider receives your IP address and request metadata needed to deliver the images. Each photograph uses a no-referrer policy, so the browser is instructed not to send this page’s address in the Referer header. This does not hide your IP address or prevent provider-side logging. Provider storage and retention have not been independently verified. Read Unsplash’s privacy policy, opens a new tab for its practices. No Unsplash scripts, tracking pixels or interactive embeds are included.
If optional tools are introduced later, their names, purposes, providers and lifetimes must be disclosed before activation, and consent must be obtained where required. Previously saved category choices must not be treated as blanket permission for materially different processing. For broader rights and the designated privacy enquiry route, read the privacy policy.
